Ngajat in Kuala Lumpur.

This is my personal album collection. Photo taken way back in 2006. Since I am not in a mood to write, I would prefer the photo do the talking for me.

One of my favourite photo
The evening civil twilight dusk in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia. Established way back in 1850s, now become metropolitan city with the population of 7.2 million.
One of the busy street in Kuala Lumpur.
some where around Jln Masjid India.
many textile shop around...
great place to do shopping

and this is my mentor...
performing ngajat in one of the pretigous hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
....hail from Kanowit, Sarawak
But lately there had been complaints that the traditional ngajat dance of the ibans had not been performed according to the original style by non-dayak groups. It should be performed in its original style inorder to preserve it originality and maintain the Malaysian culture and tradition as a whole.

Good pictures and they remind me of my young and energetic days of shopping till your drop....

Ngajat? The culture of dance evolves....and must not be politicised. It is up to the cultural group to perfect their dance and prosper. The outsiders can only imitate.

It is a question of what is original and what is imitation.

And Imitation according to Oscar Wilde is the best compliment.....

Cheers for the original ngajat....

Tabi Jay,

As usual, am ur silent reader but a loyal visitor =) Will only leave comment when I think I have the same issue to talk about =)

Nice piccies (as usual) U impressed me. Yah, with regards to the ngajat thinggy, I totally agree with you. Aku enda nemu nama pikir urang bukai meh but as an Iban itself, sigi enda tau adat kitai ditundi etc. Sometimes, they modernize the tarian sampaikan aku udah enda nemu nya tarian bangsa apa agi koh Jay. Costumes pun kadang2 enda complete bala sida ngepan Iban. Ni tau kenya? Mali bah enti nitih ke ia.

Our heritage is our culture. If outsiders meda, they will surely laugh at our people. Ka jadi moden konok tek, tapi at the same time it will make us look double stupid.

Well, just my say. Enda perlu setuju enggau jaku aku tu. Mina madah nama utai asai aku ke berbangsa Iban tu =)
